TOC’s Global Ebook Market report

The only resource you need for current conditions & future projections

One year ago we published the first edition of our Global Ebook Market report. We focused on the major English language territories but also featured coverage of several other popular languages as well.

A lot has changed in the past year so we recently published a completely revised edition of the report. You’ll find it here. The good news it’s totally free, both in terms of cost and DRM. 🙂 It’s also available in all the popular formats (PDF, EPUB, and mobi), so you’ll be able to read it on any device you own.

I worked closely with the report’s author, Ruediger Wischenbart, and I’d like to highlight some of the key elements of this edition:

  • We kick things off with several pages covering the English language market. Plenty of external references and datapoints are provided and you’ll see we’ve included links to all external source documents.
  • The report then moves into European countries and features coverage of Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria, Slovenia, and Poland. Russia, Brazil, China, and the Arab world are also covered in this edition and each territory includes sections on key accounts, government regulations, and a table showing facts and figures for the country.
  • Extensive coverage is given to the large accounts, each of which are rapidly striving for global dominance (e.g., Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble, Google, and Kobo).
  • We also include an 8-page section on piracy with case studies from Germany and France.

Soon we’ll begin the revision process for the edition we’ll publish at TOC NY 2013 in February. We’ll update all the statistics and add a few more territories for that version. In the mean time, be sure to get your copy of this edition and let us know what you think. You’ll be hard-pressed to find as much information about the global ebook market in any other resource.

TOC NY 2013 — The publishing industry will gather at the Tools of Change for Publishing Conference in New York City, February 12-14, to explore the forces and solutions that are transforming publishing.
