Wiley & O’Reilly Media sign ebook distribution deal

3,000+ technology ebooks added to the oreilly.com catalog

I’ve mentioned before that O’Reilly’s direct ebook channel is an extremely important sales outlet for us. We want our content to be in all stores but the direct channel is pretty much the only one where we can establish an ongoing relationship with readers.

That direct channel on oreilly.com is an attractive outlet for other publishers as well. We carry a variety of content from Microsoft Press, No Starch Press, and Rocky Nook, to name just a few. Today we’re thrilled to announce a new agreement with John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Beginning immediately, O’Reilly will become an online distributor for Wiley’s technology ebook program. This deal features more than 3,000 titles and includes some of the most significant brands in technology publishing including For Dummies®, WROX, and Sybex.

As my colleague Pascal Honscher says in the press release:

Partnering with another publisher, one that shares and embraces similar digital content ideals — where content is made available to customers in multiple digital formats, all without DRM — is particularly gratifying.

It’s wonderful seeing such an important technology publisher embracing the DRM-free model.

To celebrate this announcement we’re offering a 35% discount on the entire Wiley list at oreilly.com. Just go here and use the discount code DEAL.
